Over 95.5 percent eligible voters of two electoral zones secure IDs in Benshangul-Gumuz State


Asosa, February 11, 2008 (WIC) - More than 95.5 percent of the eligible voters in two of the three electoral zones of Benshangul-Gumuz State have collected IDs, according to the zonal election coordinators.

Election Coordinators of Metekel and Kamash zones in the state told WIC that out of the 135,000 eligible voters which were expected to register for the upcoming elections over 129,000 have secured IDs.

According to Metekel Zone Election Coordinator, Worku Arega, 96,401 voters have been registered in 253 polling stations. Kamash Zone Election Coordinator, Abate Garuma, on his part said 73,344 voters of the zone have secured IDs.

The three electoral zones in the state are Metekel, Kamash, and Asossa and Yem Special, it was learnt
