Police Crack Down On Illegal Video Houses

Police in Zone 5 of the metropolis have reported nabbing 59
persons and seizing 200 video cassettes in a crack down on the growing illegal
video show business. Addis Lisan, the bi-weekly Amharic organ of the Addis
Administration, quoted Ato Mekonnen Ashagre, chief of the zonal police, as
saying that the operation was conducted on the basis of an extensive
investigation.
Proximity Talks In Jeopardy

Ethiopia has accused Eritrea of jeopardizing the on-going
proximity talks in Algiers. A Foreign Ministry statement carried by government-
owned newspapers yesterday, said the talks "are in trouble because of a series
of preconditions put forth by Eritrea for starting talks on substantive matters."
