If war comes, Ethiopia must take political measures besides defensive actions.
The Reporter (Interview with
Associate Professor Medhine
Tadesse) - Here, we have to see what the goal of the Eritrean
government is. It is to put pressure on the international community to force
Ethiopia to accept the border ruling. Ethiopia's acceptance is not simply
enough. Ethiopia has to accept it because it is forced. This is the calculation
of the Eritrean government. They believe that this pressure on Ethiopia will
escalate the political crisis in the country. It will be humiliated because it
is forced by Eritrea and bow to international pressure.

What a Sad and

The Fortune - Editorial -
A prominent businessman in his mid
60s was watching the street fight between the police and protestors on Wednesday
from his first floor office. A violent protest of such a kind might not have

1970s when he was among those young and militant students who battled with
Imperial police with stones up at Arat Kilo.

I believe, all the possible remedies are in the hands of

I bet you, the worst is yet to come unless and otherwise the government changes

Some of your suggestions
on how to bring solution for the current crisis

Who is going to break the cycle ?
War and violence breeds' war and violence. The child of hate is nothing but
hatred. Do you think Ethiopia will have peace until the cycle broken? 'Insanity
is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results' Albert
Enestine. To break the cycle, It needs the realization and the commitment of all
the people of Ethiopia including those parties that are involved actively in
Ethiopian politics.
Does this wise Ethiopian saying remind you something ("
YALZERUTIN AYACHIDUM" ) What kind of seeds are there in your hands. The seed
of Violence, hatred, tribalism and so on. Ask your self. We talk about peace,
but we keep ourselves in state of war and so on. If our goal is peace, then our
act should be peace too. The bible said resist not the evil. Think of peace and
act peace. Things created two times but first in the mind. Miriam Teresa was
asked once. Can you join us for the fight against war?. She answered " No, but I
will join you the fight for peace"
God bless you all. God please grant us your peace.

A Great Nation and Noble People Let Down
by its Greedy and Bloody Elite, for a Third Time in just Three Decades
By: Chissu
I have always been reluctant to write on political issues for various reasons.
For one, I am not an expert, and I often think I am too naïve to be a
politician. For another, having followed Ethiopian politics for some time now, I
am of the opinion that my country appear to be endowed with too many political
"experts" for her own good. Most importantly, I do not like the emotive and
poisonous way these self-appointed "experts" conduct the political discourse. It
is high time I break my oath, only to say that enough is enough. I should admit
I did break my oath once before.

Existential Seriousness and Political Culture
By: Teodros Kiros
I cry for my country as the specters of
death, blood bath, insurrection and heroic moments of political struggle are
haunting this mountainous presence in East Africa, the birth place of humanity.
Once again the reasonable imperatives of Existential seriousness have been
flagrantly violated and the nation’s emerging new political culture is at peril.
I had in many previous articles argued that the sovereignty of the individual
Ethiopian, rich and poor, learned and illiterate, young and old, men and women
is so precious that no nation has the right to violate it.

Well, talk about the "coalition" that never was
in the first place! From its inception and later until its dramatic bust, this
unhealthy alliance has been dominated by none other than Eng. Hailu Shawel. Many
well meaning people, who really yearned to see a robust multi ethnic opposition
party, also had serious reservation up on seeing the man at the helm. And yet,
they never gave up on it right away for they were hopeful that reasonable people
like Dr. Berahnu Nega would prevail eventually. Much to the disappointment of
many, the good doctor did not rise to the occasion as there were many countless
blunders committed by the chairman that went unchallenged. Mr. Hailu Shawel,
through his actions, painted a "coalition" of just one man. Now the
question remains whether Dr.Berhanu was a willing participant [though highly
unlikely] of this grand sham or he lacked the courage to stand up to the bully
at the top? I thought the later is the case and hope he will enlighten us as to
what had transpired and come clean in the process.

Let KINIJIT Carryout Its Duties of Bringing the Country Together Again.
By Kebede D Gashaw
Ato Ledetu has been at the forefront of the struggle for democratic and peaceful
change in Ethiopia. There have been numerous attempts of character
assassination, vilifications, innuendos, hearsay and down right ugly portrayals
of him in countless ways and means over the last three years.

Honest debates not senseless
internal feud!
By: Yonas K. The Tobia
interview posted on EthiopiaFirst.com website sheds tremendous light on the
internal political squabble now raging between the various forces in the
opposition camp. As I understand them, the differences being played out
aren't fundamental political differences. They are only procedural. Both Lidetu and Hailu Shawel and their respective supporters understand the
indispensable nature of a complete merger by the individual parties that
make up the CUD.
Briton returns relic from Ethiopia's ancient Magdala treasure Addis Ababa

ancient Imperial Treasures at Magdala some 140 years ago was returned to the
country Saturday by a private collector in London. The case of Asegedech Mekonnen: Qoq Ezih Qizimzim Wodia
By: Sinishaw Derese
It is not the first time that Asegedech Mekonnen used the word "Zeraf
Mentality" to
disdain the works of the opposition parties. I am just surprised by her
audiovisual
perception about the current situation of Ethiopia. Who is running the country
to
hell under what she calls Zerfa Mentality? Is it racist-dictator meles zanawi
and
his followers or the oppositions? Why she attacks the opposition every time
while
some of them are being killed and others are anguishing in prison in the country
they were born and raised?

Trap
set says CUDP Vice Chairman, Lidetu Ayalew
(ssinformer)
SSI: What do you expect from tonight's
discussion with the reconciliation committee?
Lidetu: We have already seen Hailu's stand in the newspapers launched
this morning that set a prerequisite. We thought there was going to be a
discussion, but they have put a prerequisite. I am very much sorry. We have
put eight points on which we said the EPRDF should give answers on. But the
EPRDF says they won't discuss them unless we are in the Parliament. The same
way, our leaders are saying we won't discuss unless we give our seal. Things
will be wrong if EDUP does this. But for the leaders of the coalition it will
be right. It is very sad.
"We believe that CUDP is going to be a
meaningless entity without EDUP-Medhin"
The Reporter -
It was I, only, who moderated the meeting. Ato
Abdurahman Ahmedin was the secretary. The assembly was conducted according to
the procedure. The executive committee proposed ideas for debate. The central
committee deliberated over the proposal and endorsed it. Then it was presented
to the assembly. Discussion was held, and new points added. One of the new
points was about the merger. It was never decided that we don't want the merger.
In fact, one of the resolution of the assembly was for the fast implementation
of the merger. But what must be done, must be done. The merger must be
completely executed in whole. That was the stand taken during the general
assembly. Four resolutions were read that day. 18 elected members from EDUP-Medhin for the CUDP council were given the mandate and the responsibility
to work to implement these resolutions. The assembly gave consensus with
standing ovation.
